Treasures Found- The Wife’s Report

Posted: February 16, 2009 in Blog

Once again, we were going through a big box of random cards from my husband’s earlier years of collecting and came across two very nifty cards. The first is the 1995 Donruss Alex Rodriguez rookie card when he played for the Seattle Mariners (114). It says that he was acquired 1st round June ’93 amateur draft. According to wikipedia, A-Rod has played for the Seattle Mariners, Texas Rangers, and New York Yankees. He has had an amazing career if you bypass his current situation in the news. That aside, he is a 12x All Star and 2x Gold Glove just to name a few career highlights.  1994 Donruss Rated Rookie (#114) Alex Rodriguez

The second card found is a 1996 Topps Nomar Garciaparra Future Star card. My husband and I did not know much about Nomar, so we decided to research it a little bit on wikipedia. We learned that Nomar’s first name is Anthony and Nomar is actually his father’s first name spelled backwards (Ramon). Nomar is a 6x All Star and has won 2 consecutive batting titles. His career has been with the Boston Red Sox, Chicago Cubs, and Los Angeles Dodgers. We are unsure where he is going next- does anyone know?

That Donruss A-Rod card is actually from 1995. Still a pretty cool early card of the Roidster.

Nomar is still a free agent the last I heard. This offseason has been brutal on veteran free agents.
