To say that Lonestarr from the blog Behind these Hazel Eyes is giving would be an understatement. Just take a look at all the cool cards he sent my way.

Up First the Baseball hits:

The Ripken Cards:

I remember when I just started to get back into collecting cards, this was one of the subsets that drew me back in. Every time I when to Target, I had to pick up a few packs and hope for a few of these inserts.

004/299

The Orioles cards:

The Football Hit:

889/899

Do you think he got tired of signing his name 888 times before this one?? Very cool card, I have never seen one in person. Thank you!

The Raven Cards:

Some of my favorite Raven cards that were sent:

If you have not checked out his blog, go there now… And see if you can trade with him.

Thank you Lonestarr!! I owe you more cards. As soon as I get some more, I will send them your way.

The package from Austin, from the Omega Cardboard, started out with 2 excellent Iron Man cards and I may put a real effort into collecting this set next year. But I am not sure since I am already working on 3 Ripken subsets and progress is really slow.

Seeing double… Nope Austin was very kind and sent these two Ripken cards from my favorite set of all time, the Upper Deck Masterpieces. The top card is a base card and the Black Bordered one below it is numbered out of 99!! SWEET!!

In all the boxes I broke of 2007 Masterpieces this is the one box topper I wanted, and now its mine! Thank you so much Austin! I hope you are enjoying the cards I sent to you.

Quick question for everyone, how do you store the box toppers? Are there Top Loaders and sleeves big enough?

Collection Organization

With everything going on right now, having the collection organized is very important because that is the number one thing my wife requested. I can understand her request, I have cards EVERYWHERE.

So I am beginning the process of organization with 3 main cardboard boxes (I may need more soon). One for current players, One for Hall of Famers, and the largest box is for the Ripken collection. And I also have other boxes for doubles, Orioles, and random cards.

Inside each box I created tabs for each of the main players I collect.

HOF – Brooks Robinson, Jim Palmer, Eddie Murray, Frank Robinson, Johnny Unitas, and I am in the process of making the tabs for some of the other Colts HOF (Lenny Moore, John Mackey, Raymond Berry).

Current – Brian Roberts, Nick Markakis, Adam Jones, Ray Lewis, Ed Reed and Joe Flacco.

Ripken – I decided to create tabs for each year while he was playing and group his non playing years.

I hope this method works to keep me organized, but only time will tell.

I am still in the process of getting all my non Ripken cards loaded into Zistle.

I am still really backed up on trade posts, they just keep coming in the mail!

Recently, I got a package of cards out of the blue from The Saint of the Cheap Seats.

Dan sent over a nice stack of Orioles and a number of players in my collection.

021/225

Upon opening the package, this card grabbed my attention for three main reasons…

First: Shiny… I sometimes get distracted by shiny things
Second: Numbered. I know it does not mean a lot to some collectors, but I think its cool knowing I have 1 of the 225 ever produced of this card.
Third: It’s a player I follow and collect!

373/500

And another numbered Roberts…AWESOME!

Ah, shiny!

Not shiny or numbered, but nonetheless a great card. I really like the 2009 SP Legendary Cuts, maybe I will break a box sometime.

To wrap up this trade post, I received cards of both Nick Markakis and Brian Roberts. Dan, thank you so much for the great cards! I have a few nice cards cards coming your way soon…

Any time I get a package in the mail and see it’s from Wicked Ortega, I know there are great cards inside. The most recent package was no different. With all the Ripken cards he has sent me in the past, I can’t figure out how he keeps finding more awesome cards that I don’t have. Currently the Ripken collection is just shy of 600 different cards!

This current package included Ripken inserts, die-cut, and even numbered cards!

The 2632 die-cut is a favorit. As soon as I saw that card listed as trade bait, I knew I had to trade for that beautiful card.

The Card-Supial was very interesting. At first I thought it was like all other card which featured two players, but on a closer view, it appears to be a mini card attached to the main card. Cool concept!

Numbered:

One day I will finish this SPX Ironman set.

Grand Finale:

A while back the most generous Wicked Ortega sent me an email stating he found a card I may be interested in. He knows what I like and collect, so I was very interested in finding out what he had found. While pulling all the Ripken cards from the package, I noticed one card was in a much thicker holder. Upon removing the card from the package, I found myself looking at one of the coolest manufactured patch cards! I mean that Oriole patch looks AWESOME!

Wicked Ortega, Thank you so much for you generousity! I greatly enjoyed all the cards you sent my way. Hopefully you enjoy all the cards I will send in return.

Cards from eBay

24/50

2007 Exquisite Patch! A nice 2 color patch card and numbered too! I am slowly adding to my Ravens collection. I am finding as I look at football cards more, I realize they are more visually appealing than baseball cards. It seems to me that the cards focus on design and quality more.

0920/2001

I have been collecting Brian Roberts since I got back into Baseball cards, and never had a rookie card. So I figured it was time to pick one up.

051/250

Do you know what $.50 and $3.00 shipping can get you on eBay… I would call that a great deal! The only thing that could possibly make this card any better would be a patch, but I am still very happy with this card.

Hope you enjoyed viewing the newest additions to my collection from eBay.
